Description

Serum Gamma Glutamyl Transpeptidase

Efficacy, safety and tolerability of lovastatin and bezafibrate retard in patients with hypercholesterolemia. 1992

One patient in the Bezafibrate group was withdrawn because of nausea, one patient in the Lovastatin group because of GGT elevation.

Hypoxia and GGT

Antioxidant status in patients with sleep apnoea and impact of continuous positive airway pressure treatment., 2006

Patients with OSAS had ... increased values of GGT (42+/-22 versus 32+/-16 U.L-1) than controls. ... CPAP treatment normalised .... the activity of GGT (30+/-14 U.L-1).

Effects of short-term and prolonged aerogenic hypoxia on gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase activity in the brain, liver, and biological fluids of young rats. 1985

However, the activity of soluble GGT in the cerebrospinal fluid of both groups of rats was several-times elevated in comparison with controls. At the same time, bound GGT activity was increased in the liver after acute or prolonged altitude hypoxia. The soluble GGT activity in plasma was only increased after prolonged exposure.

Cortisol and GGT

Cortisol regulation of gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase in liver, choroid plexus, blood plasma and cerebrospinal fluid of developing chick embryo., 1981
