Extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer (EMMPRIN) is a widely expressed membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily (Biswas et al., 1995) that has been implicated in tissue remodeling (Huet, Vallee, et al., 2008) and various cardiovascular pathological conditions including heart failure (Spinale et al., 2000) and atherosclerosis (Major, Liang, Lu, Rosebury, & Bocan, 2002).
