La ricerca delle cause del sintomo ci porta in sequenza a:
- formulare una ipotesi molecolare sulla base delle conoscenze attuali
- identificare gli esami di laboratorio necessari a testare l'ipotesi
- identificare il laboratorio dove gli esami vengono fatti e valutarne la corretta esecuzione
- sulla base dei dati noti convalidare o meno l'ipotesi diagnostica
Diagnostic algorithms
The term ‘algorithm’ is derived from the name of the ninth century Arabic mathematician Algawrismi, who also gave his name to ‘algebra’. His ‘algorismus’, indicated a well defined procedure for stepbystep logical approach to mathematical problem-solving.
The algorithm input are physical symptoms and signs, or laboratory results, which lead to a number of effective steps, and produces the diagnoses for an output.
